What determines the price of Litecoin?

Buyers and sellers determine the Litecoin price through the orders they place on exchanges. The price changes when demand or available supply changes.

On the supply side, Litecoin issues new coins as mining rewards. Scheduled halvings reduce those rewards, so the circulating supply grows more slowly after each halving.

On the demand side, traders may adjust their LTC orders in response to interest rate changes, inflation news, and broader crypto market conditions.

As of Nov 05, 2026, Litecoin is trading at $51.81, -7.58% over the past 24 hours, moving between a low of $51.65 and a high of $56.20 on Binance.US. Over the past 7 days the price has moved -6.78%, over the past 30 days -24.83%, and over the past year -42.09%. Litecoin's market capitalization stands at $4.03B on a circulating supply of 77.80M LTC, with $240.95M traded globally over the past 24 hours. These movements reflect the mechanics described above: demand meeting a supply that grows through mining rewards cut in half roughly every four years, and the broader macroeconomic backdrop. This is a dated read of current conditions, not a forecast; Binance.US does not publish price targets.

How has MWEB affected where Litecoin trades?

Some exchanges stopped trading Litecoin after its MWEB upgrade. MWEB, or Mimblewimble Extension Blocks, went live in May 2022 and gives users an optional way to hide transaction amounts in extension blocks.[1]

MWEB is optional. Transactions on Litecoin's main chain remain transparent unless users choose to move their LTC into an extension block.

The upgrade changed where LTC could be traded. In June 2022, major South Korean exchanges, including Upbit and Bithumb, ended Litecoin trading, citing anti-money-laundering rules concerning confidential transactions.[2]

Exchange listings affect where people can buy and sell LTC. They can also affect how many buyers and sellers place the orders that set LTC's price.

How Binance.US prices Litecoin

Binance.US shows a Litecoin price based on completed trades on its LTC order book. A new trade can change the quoted price. The quote reflects trading on Binance.US rather than an average from other exchanges. Learn more about Binance.US.

Litecoin's all-time high

Litecoin reached its all-time high of $412.96 on May 10, 2021 and its all-time low of $1.11 on Jan 14, 2015.

The high and low show the range of prices at which LTC has traded. They describe past prices and cannot tell you where LTC will trade next.

Today's price sits -87.46% from that high.

Litecoin market capitalization and circulating supply

Litecoin's market capitalization equals its price multiplied by its circulating supply. With 77.80M LTC in circulation, its market cap currently stands at $4.03B.

Miners continue to add LTC to circulation. As supply changes, market cap can change even if the price does not.

Litecoin's fully diluted valuation, currently $4.35B, estimates what its market cap would be if every LTC that can ever exist were in circulation at today's price. Miners have already mined most of those coins, so the figure sits close to Litecoin's current market cap.

  • Litecoin's market capitalization equals the LTC price multiplied by circulating supply. The figure estimates the market value of all circulating LTC.
  • Fully diluted valuation multiplies today's LTC price by Litecoin's maximum supply, including coins miners have not yet mined.
  • Circulating supply counts LTC already mined and available to the market. Maximum supply is the limit on how many LTC the protocol can create.
  • Litecoin's market dominance is its market cap as a share of the total cryptocurrency market cap.

Litecoin price history and key milestones

Charlie Lee launched Litecoin in October 2011 using Bitcoin's open-source code. He designed it as a "lite" complement to Bitcoin, with a shorter target block time. Litecoin is one of the longest-running cryptocurrencies still traded today.

Litecoin has its own blockchain and uses Scrypt mining. The network targets a block about every two and a half minutes, compared with Bitcoin's ten minutes. Its maximum supply is four times Bitcoin's, and both networks cut mining rewards on a schedule.

How does the Litecoin halving affect its supply?

Litecoin's halving slows the growth of its circulating supply by cutting the mining reward in half. Halvings occur every 840,000 blocks, or roughly every four years.[4] The reward began at 50 LTC per block and fell to 6.25 LTC after halvings in 2015, 2019, and 2023.

The next halving is expected around mid-2027 and will lower the reward to 3.125 LTC per block. Miners will then add less new LTC per block, while the maximum supply stays the same.

Litecoin schedules halvings by block height, not a calendar date, so the exact day can shift. Each halving reduces how much new LTC miners create; it does not remove LTC already in circulation.

Converting Litecoin to US dollars

Converting Litecoin to U.S. dollars takes any amount of LTC and returns its value at the current rate. Enter an amount in the converter above for the dollar equivalent, or reverse it to calculate how much Litecoin a set dollar amount buys.

The rate changes all the time, so your converted value always matches the live price instead of an old one. The LTC to USD conversion uses the same first-party rate shown across this page, so what you calculate is the rate at which you can trade on Binance.US.

The converter helps you size a purchase, value your current holdings, or figure out what a fraction of a Litecoin costs in dollars today.

What else do people ask about the Litecoin price?

These are the questions people ask before they buy: what moves the price, where the number comes from, and what it costs to trade.

Litecoin is a peer-to-peer cryptocurrency with its own proof-of-work blockchain. LTC is its coin. Charlie Lee adapted Bitcoin's code to create Litecoin. Both networks use mining and have fixed maximum supplies, so the Bitcoin (BTC) price offers a useful comparison. A full guide to what Litecoin is and how the network works will follow on its own page.

Litecoin miners create new LTC when they add a block to the blockchain. The network halves the mining reward every 840,000 blocks. Ethereum uses a different system and no longer relies on mining. See the Ethereum (ETH) price for a comparison.

No. Litecoin is a cryptocurrency, not a stock. Owning LTC does not give you shares in a company, a claim on company earnings, or a dividend. That difference is the core of what a cryptocurrency is. Some investment products may offer exposure to Litecoin, but buying one of those products differs from holding LTC directly.

Yes. Litecoin miners have used merged mining to help secure Dogecoin since 2014. Both networks use Scrypt, so miners can use the same computing work for each network and may earn rewards in both LTC and DOGE. The coins have separate blockchains, supply rules, and prices. Compare the Dogecoin (DOGE) price.

One LTC is worth $51.81 right now on Binance.US. Because LTC trades every hour of every day, its price keeps moving. Compare LTC with other cryptocurrency prices, or review the current quote and buy cryptocurrency on Binance.US when you're ready to place an order.

Litecoin's price is volatile because changes in buying and selling activity can move it quickly. News, shifts in the wider crypto market, and access to LTC can also affect demand. Litecoin sometimes moves alongside the price of Bitcoin, though the two do not always move together.

77.80M LTC are currently in circulation, with a maximum supply of 84 million. Most LTC has already been mined, so circulating supply is close to the maximum supply. Mining still adds new coins, while scheduled halvings slow that growth. Solana has no fixed maximum supply; see the Solana (SOL) price page for comparison.

Litecoin is used mainly for sending and receiving payments. Litecoin miners add a block about every two and a half minutes, and a payment gets its first confirmation when a miner includes it in a block. Many merchants accept LTC, either directly or through payment processors. The XRP Ledger also supports fast, low-cost payments; see the XRP price page for comparison.
